Job summary

Techno is looking for a Construction Inspector to support the Hudson Tunnel Project for NJ TRANSIT and the Gateway Development Commission (GDC). • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction inspection, QA/QC, or construction management on major infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with FTA, Buy America, and BABA requirements and domestic sourcing documentation.
• Experience reviewing contractor records, audits, and tracking corrective actions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic document management or inspection reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Support QA/QC procedures and regulatory requirements including FTA, Buy America, and BABA.

• Maintain organized quality records, inspection logs, and compliance tracking matrices.
• Prepare quality/compliance reports and escalate deficiencies to project leadership.
• Coordinate with Quality Manager, engineers, suppliers, and stakeholders to address issues.
• Support audits, project acceptance, punch-list closure, and close-out documentation.

Job description

Techno is looking for a Construction Inspector to support the Hudson Tunnel Project for NJ TRANSIT and the Gateway Development Commission (GDC). This role will focus on construction quality assurance, field inspections, documentation, and compliance with project requirements, including Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Buy America, and Build America, Buy America (BABA) regulations.

• Conduct field inspections and quality surveillance to verify construction activities, materials, and documentation comply with project specifications and approved quality plans.
• Review contractor inspection reports, testing records, material certifications, Bills of Materials Lists (BMLs), and domestic sourcing documentation.
• Support implementation of project QA/QC procedures and applicable FTA, Buy America, and BABA requirements.
• Conduct audits and document reviews of contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and testing agencies to verify compliance.
• Track material traceability, testing results, non-conformances, audit findings, and corrective actions through resolution.
• Maintain accurate, organized quality and compliance records, including inspection logs, certifications, audit documentation, and compliance tracking matrices.
• Prepare quality and compliance reports, identify potential risks, and escalated deficiencies to project leadership.
• Coordinate with the Quality Manager, contractors, engineers, suppliers, and project stakeholders to address quality and compliance issues.
• Support FTA and other owner or federal audits, project acceptance, punch-list completion, and close-out documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction inspection, quality assurance/quality control, or construction management, preferably on major infrastructure or transportation projects.
• Working knowledge of construction QA/QC processes, inspection and testing procedures, material traceability, and quality documentation.
• Familiarity with FTA, Buy America, and BABA requirements, including domestic sourcing documentation and applicable waiver processes, is preferred.
• Experience reviewing contractor records, conducting audits, documenting deficiencies, and tracking corrective actions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic document management or inspection reporting systems.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience on federally funded transit, rail, tunnel, or transportation infrastructure projects.
• Direct experience with FTA oversight, Buy America/BABA compliance, or federal project audits.
• ACI, NICET, or other relevant construction quality inspection certifications.
• Experience with digital inspection tools, compliance tracking systems, and quality reporting.

COMPENSATION

The anticipated compensation range for this position is between $45-$60/hr. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
