Job summary

Techno is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer to support construction oversight and project delivery for the Hudson Tunnel Project. The role involves field coordination, documentation, QA, safety, and regulatory compliance while coordinating with NJ Transit, contractors, engineers, and project management teams.

The candidate will review submittals, maintain documentation, assist with schedule and cost tracking, and support safety and environmental requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years in construction management, field engineering, or inspection.
• Knowledge of construction methods, contract administration, project controls, quality assurance, and safety requirements.
• Familiarity with construction documentation, environmental compliance, and applicable codes and regulations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with construction management software, BIM, or CAD is a plus.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work onsite and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with rail, tunnel, or federally funded transportation projects.
• Familiarity with NJ Transit, Amtrak, and applicable construction requirements.
• Relevant safety, inspection, or construction certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field supervision and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, schedules, and safety requirements.
• Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, engineers, and project stakeholders to resolve technical issues and maintain project progress.
• Review contractor submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, daily inspection reports, change orders, and construction work plans.
• Maintain project documentation and assist with schedule tracking, cost monitoring, change management, and progress reporting.
• Support quality assurance activities, inspections, materials testing, and resolution of non-conformances.
• Assist with safety and environmental compliance, including applicable federal, state, and local regulations and permitting requirements.
• Participate in project meetings, prepare reports and meeting minutes, and support coordination across project disciplines.
• Assist with punch-list resolution, as-built reviews, and project close-out activities.

COMPENSATION

The anticipated compensation range for this position is between $70 - $100 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
