Job summary

HNTB in San Antonio, TX seeks an Inspector III to provide daily inspection of complex activities across multiple projects. The role involves in-person fieldwork, night and weekend shifts, and coordination with TxDOT, VIA, City and County entities.

You will maintain daily logs, verify plans and specs, and perform on-site material testing. Requires a High School Diploma or GED with 6 years of construction experience and relevant jurisdictional certificates.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents, and plans.
• Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform complicated mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date.
• Maintains Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
• Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches as required.

This opportunity entails being responsible for providing daily inspection of multiple, complex activities within a given discipline/trade performed by the contractor in order to monitor the project compliance with plans, specifications and other contract provisions. Maintains daily logs of inspection work which is assigned and reviews discrepancies or changes with Field Engineer. Performs non-routine and moderately complex assignments normally related to multiple and/or medium to large projects.

This position is for Inspector III in the San Antonio Area. This position may require you to perform inspection services in the following 12 counties: Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Frio, Guadalupe, Kendall, Kerr, McMullen, Medina, Uvalde, and Wilson. Work assignments may include work with TxDOT, VIA, City and County entities.

Work for this position does not include remote work. This position is in-person.

Construction inspection work will include night work and weekend work.

What You'll Do

• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 6 years of construction related experience.


• All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.

What You'll Bring

• Records daily inspection report, tracks work performed, and computes pay item quantities at a basic level with directions from more experienced staff.


• General understanding of plans and specifications.
