Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is seeking a Construction Inspector II in the Transportation & Public Works Department, Capital Delivery Division. The selected candidate will review construction plans and oversee utilities, storm drainage, concrete and asphalt paving to ensure compliance with plans, specs, contracts, and regulatory requirements.

The role requires inspecting workmanship and materials to meet standards, maintaining relationships with contractors and the public, and working as part of a

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of construction inspection experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain within one year, a Class C Water Distribution certification.
• Must pass the City of Fort Worth HPE and a Drug Screen.

Responsibilities

• Inspects work quality and materials in public works projects to ensure compliance with standards and codes.
• Performs preliminary and final inspections and recommends acceptance of developments.
• Observes work during progress and upon completion.
• Coordinates change orders and informs contractors of changes in plans and specifications.
• Ensures safety procedures are followed.
• Inspects public works structures including utilities, streets, sidewalks, and storm systems.
• Acts as liaison between contractors and the general public.
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal, management, and communication skills with development community and City staff.
• Drives a City vehicle.
