General Responsibilities:

Perform daily inspections of construction projects, monitoring quality and adherence to building code requirements, construction drawings, and project specifications. Inspections may cover multiple disciplines or specific areas such as structural steel, concrete, masonry, fireproofing, etc. Inspection activities include visual/physical inspections and field testing to verify conformance. Prepare inspection reports and document observations and testing results. Communicate findings to engineers or project managers and collaborate on solutions to potential issues. Adhere to strict safety standards.

Essential Roles And Responsibilities

1. Perform testing, observation, and inspection as directed, following training and procedures.
2. Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
3. Document findings and results clearly.
4. Analyze data for accuracy before reporting to the Project Manager.
5. Communicate information to the Project Manager and team as directed.
6. Draft inspection reports for review.
7. Assist senior inspectors on projects.
8. Maintain equipment and calibration.
9. Follow safety rules and report safety issues.
10. Maintain quality standards on all projects.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree in Civil or Construction Engineering Technology preferred.
• 2-4 years’ experience as an Engineering Technician or similar role.
• 1 year experience in construction inspection preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable record.

Required Certifications

• Completion of internal safety certifications.
• At least one of the following certifications:
• NICET Level II in Construction Materials Testing or Geotechnical.
• ICC certifications in reinforced concrete, fireproofing, masonry, prestressed concrete, or structural steel.
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
• ASNT Level II in nondestructive testing methods.
• Other relevant materials certifications.
• ACI certifications in concrete testing or related areas.
• Radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation certifications.
