Construction Inspector I/ Construction Inspector II/ Sr Construction Inspector I

CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR II (Engineering)

This role advances ongoing projects by participating in construction phase activities alongside fellow inspectors, engineers and architects, fulfilled in knowing their efforts are helping better communities.

The Construction Inspector II coordinates with seasoned architects or civil engineers, and a diverse team of multidisciplinary professionals to inspect work for buildings, roadways, public water main, sanitary sewer or storm sewer projects. Reporting to a Senior Construction Inspector or Project Manager, you consolidate information, prepare reports and see all assignments through to successful outcomes. You take a collaborative approach to every project you work on, and your team members appreciate your dedication to following through on commitments.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Five (5) years of construction inspection experience related to Architecture, Structural Engineer, Civil Engineering – or a professional degree in Architecture, Structural or Civil Engineering, Civil technology or Construction Management from an accredited institution
  • CPESC, OSHA 10, and NICET II (or equivalent) certification
  • Experience with preparing daily construction reports and other important documents
  • Ability to interpret moderately complex construction plans and specifications
  • Able to work effectively with Engineers-in-Charge, designated Office Engineers, and Project Manager
  • Experience in problem solving, using judgement, and offering solutions to challenges in a timely manner
  • Prior experience with industry data management programs used to file reports, photographs and other data – or willing to learn
  • General computer skills, including experience using a Tablet as well as Microsoft Office programs
  • You have a valid driver’s license

CORE DUTIES

  • Communicate with internal team and clients throughout the construction processes
  • Perform field observation/inspection tasks, overseeing various construction activities, particularly during critical operations
  • Verify compliance with predetermined project plans and specifications
  • Review information and assemble daily construction reports and other documentation, accounting for detail and accuracy
  • Keep track of contract quantities, recording daily quantities in each report
  • Coordinate with owners, contractors, regulatory agencies, utility officials and other external project personnel as necessary

The rate for this position generally ranges between $28-34 hourly. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employees already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
