Construction Inspectors (Remote Site Locations) (Biotech)

GPI has immediate openings for highway and bridge construction inspectors to work on major/minor KYTC projects in the Louisville/Frankfort/Shepherdsville area. Positions range from entry-level to senior-level construction inspectors.

The candidate should be motivated, able to work independently and as part of a GPI/KYTC project team. Availability to work contractor hours, including day or night shifts and weekends, is necessary for project completion. GPI offers a competitive compensation package based on experience.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform daily field inspections and observations of contractor work for highway and bridge projects, including earthwork, asphalt, concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, MOT, safety devices, and utilities.
2. Measure, compute, record, and maintain contract quantities for payments.
3. Read and interpret project plans, specifications, and standards.
4. Conduct material sampling and testing as per standards and specifications.
5. Ensure contractor work and materials meet standards and specifications.
6. Document daily project progress, work performed, conformance, workforce, equipment, quantities, and extra work.
7. Record project progress and documentation using Word, Excel, SiteManager, LIMS, or other software.
8. Identify and communicate project issues to managers and contractors.
9. Assess and report unsafe conditions.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associate's degree or higher in Construction Management, Technology, or Civil Engineering preferred.
• KYTC or other DOT construction inspection experience preferred.
• Certifications: ACI Field Testing Technician, KYTC Aggregate Sampling Technician, Asphalt Paving Best Practices, Structural Inspection Level I, KEPSC-RI, or ability to obtain.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel; basic computer skills.
• OSHA 10 or ability to obtain certification.
