What We're Looking For:

Barge Design Solutions is looking for a Construction Inspector responsible for review and interpretation of engineering drawings for on-site general contractors and owners on Transportation projects, located in Knoxville, TN.

Responsibilities:

  • Observes the construction phases of work including quality control, constructability, completeness, and provides regular updates to the Project Manager
  • Manages RFI’s, documents change orders, handles shop drawings, etc. as required based on project goals.
  • Performs field inspections as required to support project goals.
  • Effectively communicates with contractor, engineer and client in making sure milestones of project are met.
  • Performs basic calculations and evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria as necessary during the construction phase.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Education & Experience Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, additional education in construction management/civil engineering technology preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in construction type projects required, experience with a Geotechnical/Materials Testing firm, a plus.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of construction standards and design criteria within the civil construction field.
  • Proficient knowledge of project engineering processes and procedures with thorough documentation skills using spreadsheets
  • Strong in organizing and management complex construction activities.
  • Willingness to travel to projects and stay out of town for several months at a time, a plus.
