What We're Looking For:

Barge Design Solutions is seeking a Construction Inspector responsible for reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings for on-site general contractors and owners on transportation projects, located in Knoxville, TN.

Responsibilities:

  1. Observe construction phases, including quality control, constructability, and completeness, providing regular updates to the Project Manager.
  2. Manage RFIs, document change orders, handle shop drawings, and perform related tasks based on project goals.
  3. Perform field inspections as required to support project objectives.
  4. Communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and clients to ensure project milestones are met.
  5. Perform basic calculations and evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria during construction.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; additional education in construction management or civil engineering technology preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in construction projects required; experience with geotechnical/materials testing firms is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of construction standards and civil design criteria.
  • Proficient in project engineering processes with thorough documentation skills using spreadsheets.
  • Excellent organizational and management skills for complex construction activities.
  • Willingness to travel and stay out of town for extended periods is a plus.
