Our Virginia Beach Construction Management Team is seeking a Construction Inspector. The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction, focusing on structural quality, safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
• Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.
• Measure dimensions and verify levels, alignment, and elevations of structures, fixtures, grades, and pavements to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
• Gather and maintain record documents.
• Make field notes and computations.

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

• Strong computer proficiency.
• Active driver's license.
• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.

Required Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience).
• 1-4 years of roadway construction inspection experience.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management preferred.
• Client-requested certifications preferred.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in the field. Ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Work may be outdoors in various weather conditions.
