General Responsibilities:

Perform daily inspections of construction projects, monitoring quality and adherence to building code requirements, construction drawings, and project specifications. Inspections may span multiple disciplines or focus on specific areas such as structural steel, concrete, masonry, fireproofing, etc. Inspections include visual/physical assessments and field testing to verify compliance with plans and specifications. Prepare inspection reports and document observations and testing results. Communicate findings to engineers or project managers and collaborate with the project team on resolving potential issues. Adhere to strict safety standards.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

• Perform testing, observation, and inspection as directed, following training and specified procedures.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Document findings clearly and accurately.
• Analyze data to verify accuracy before reporting to the Project Manager.
• Communicate information effectively to the Project Manager and relevant personnel.
• Draft inspection reports for review by senior inspectors or Project Managers.
• Assist senior inspectors on projects as needed.
• Maintain equipment and calibration.
• Follow safety rules and perform pre-task planning; report safety issues promptly.
• Maintain quality standards across all projects.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience as an Engineering Technician or relevant role.
• 1 year of construction inspection experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Required Certification:

• Completion of relevant internal safety certifications.
• One or more of the following certifications:

• NICET Level II in Construction Materials Testing or Geotechnical.
• ICC certifications in Reinforced Concrete, Fireproofing, Masonry, Prestressed/Post-Tensioned Concrete, Structural Steel (Bolting/Welding).
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
• ASNT Level II in Nondestructive Testing (VT, MT, PT, RT, UT).
• Other relevant certifications as deemed appropriate.

*Note: ACI certifications in concrete testing are not required if AWS, ASNT, VT, MT, PT, RT, or UT certifications are held and testing is not required.

• Certification in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation.

**Note: Nuclear Density Gauge certification is not required if other relevant certifications are held and soils testing is not required.
