Job description

Summary

Inspects and oversees construction of structures within the City of Lancaster to ensure that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Provides inspections for City and Public construction projects within the right of way.
• Makes sure that contractors follow the City of Lancaster's design manual and are within specifications for the project.
• Makes sure the contractor is following applicable traffic control plans as submitted.
• Performs routine visual inspections daily to ensure all City designs and specifications are followed.
• Provides right of way inspections for permits.
• Reviews plans and attends meetings related to various construction projects.
• Measures distances to verify the accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts.
• Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
• Observes work in progress to ensure procedures followed and materials used conform to specifications.
• Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards and approves installation.
• Interprets blueprints and specifications for contractors and discusses deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Education And/or Experience

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Class C Driver’s License.
Class D Water and Wastewater Licenses.
