Summary

Inspects and oversees construction of structures within the City of Lancaster to ensure that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides inspections for City and Public construction projects within the right of way.
• Ensures contractors follow the City of Lancaster's design manual and adhere to project specifications.
• Monitors compliance with applicable traffic control plans as submitted.
• Performs routine visual inspections daily to ensure adherence to City designs and specifications.
• Provides right of way inspections for permits.
• Participates in plan reviews and attends meetings related to various construction projects.
• Measures distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts.
• Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
• Observes work in progress to ensure procedures and materials conform to specifications.
• Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards and approves installations.
• Interprets blueprints and specifications for contractors and discusses deviations to ensure compliance with construction regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Class C Driver’s License.

Class D Water and Wastewater Licenses.
