Role Description

This position is responsible for overseeing the construction and installation of facilities for the company’s clients. This includes quality inspections, safety observation, and reporting for the construction of substations, transmission lines, distribution lines, wind generation facilities, solar generation, or battery energy storage. The construction inspector represents the company and the client to ensure all facilities are installed to design, specifications, and best industry practice.

Duties
  • Responsible for performing field observations and reporting that support construction project’s completion within scope, schedule, and budget requirements as defined by the client.
  • Coordinate the construction contractor’s performance in the field, ensuring quality, scope, and schedule are upheld in the construction of facilities and equipment.
  • Produce a daily report with information about contractor progress, adherence to specifications, issues with expected field conditions, pictures, and other relevant topics to give office support perspective of field activities.
  • Ensures work is being performed in compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations, relevant safety programs, and issues stop‑work order when adverse risk is identified.
  • Identify mitigation measures to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites and aids Project Team in executing revised plans.
  • Coordinate with the Project Team to develop and update scope and schedule for the projects.
  • Coordinate with the Project Team to ensure that materials and equipment arrive at site within specifications and are delivered on time.
  • Advise management, transmission planning, system operations, engineering, and project personnel on matters such as technical specifications, constructability, work procedures, safety procedures, and any actions needed to help the project succeed.
  • Help our client hold their contractor(s) to the obligations that the contractor has with the client.
  • Coordinate communication of all necessary permits and licenses for a given project between the field and office support.
  • Assist Project Team keeping all stakeholders compliant with the client’s jobsite requirements including property access, safety, public engagement, etc.
  • Timely completion of required training, including Annual Cyber Security training.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience constructing all aspects of transmission level substations and transmission lines.
  • Must be proficient at reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and standards associated with electrical construction projects.
  • Must be fluent in the English language.
  • Proficient at the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Familiar with OSHA, NEC, NESC, and ANSI standards.
Additional Qualifications – Construction Inspector Level II
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience constructing all aspects of transmission level substations and transmission lines.
  • Must be proficient at reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and standards associated with electrical construction projects.
  • Must be proficient in reading and interpreting electrical design prints, understand how to review Red Line prints, and the understanding of circuitry.
  • Must have thorough understanding of touch and step potential.
Construction Inspector Level III
  • A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience constructing all aspects of transmission level substations and transmission lines.
  • Must be proficient at reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and standards associated with electrical construction projects.
  • Must have thorough understanding of electrical theory, power delivery, and troubleshooting abilities.
All Levels Must Also Have the Following Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Comply with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities, make sound decisions, and handle pressure.
  • The successful individual will be a mature self‑starter, service‑oriented, and be professional in conduct, attitude, and appearance.
