Job summary

The Walsh Group seeks an HSE Manager for a construction project in Kodiak, AK, to lead site safety planning, coordinate EHS programs, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

Responsibilities include inspections, accident investigations, safety meetings, audits, and reporting. CHST certification and a safety-focused degree are preferred; some travel may be required. This is a full-time on-site role with growth opportunities within Walsh.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Civil Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent).
• CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) certification required or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction EHS field.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities; ability to prioritize and manage time.
• Some travel required.
• Must be able to stand, sit, walk, and/or climb stairs or ladders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an effective site-specific EHS plan in coordination with the Project Manager and leadership.
• Coordinate subcontractor EHS protocols and audits; work with vendors and owner personnel.
• Plan and coordinate work to eliminate hazards, minimize risks, and manage losses.
• Conduct accident investigations and incident reporting for PM review.
• Accompany injured employees to treatment and ensure EHS protocols are followed.
• Advise on Industrial Hygiene protocols; perform environmental monitoring.
• Manage Drug-Free Workplace policies and testing programs.
• Provide EHS training and onboarding for new hires.
