Job summary

Water Resources Group in Deerwood, MN seeks an HR Director to lead day-to-day HR operations across WRG. This hands-on leadership role partners with senior management to support employees, strengthen HR processes, and ensure regulatory compliance.

You will manage the HR team, oversee recruiting, benefits, payroll collaboration, and HR systems such as HRIS and ATS. Experience in construction or field services is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years HR leadership experience.
• Experience with HR compliance, employee relations, and process improvement.
• Leadership of a small HR team; construction industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the HR team (Recruiter, HR Specialist, Employee Coordinator).
• Partner with leadership on employee relations, performance, staffing, and organizational needs.
• Oversee recruiting and talent acquisition across WRG.
• Develop, improve, and maintain HR policies and processes.
• Oversee HR systems and technology (HRIS and ATS).
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
• Support benefits administration and employee programs.
• Collaborate with Finance on payroll and labor matters.
• Support both union and non-union labor practices where applicable.
• Maintain HR reporting and compliance documentation.
• Support workforce planning and succession planning.
• Develop and manage the HR department budget.
• Identify opportunities to improve HR operations and employee experience.
• Provide guidance to leaders on HR matters.
• Build relations across WRG offices and field operations.
