Job Description

This Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a Full-Time Highway Construction Inspector for our Albuquerque, NM office. Be involved in projects with our Project Management/Construction Management Team and be part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
  • Perform construction inspection and observation of highway and/or bridge construction work for compliance with NMDOT, Municipality, County, and Tribal plans, specifications, and contract documents. Work includes inspection of earthwork, hot mix asphalt, concrete structures, concrete placements, base course, subgrade, guardrail, culverts, drainage structures, curb and gutter, sidewalk, lighting, signals, striping, utilities, and traffic control.
  • Interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents to verify contract compliance.
  • Prepare daily work reports; maintain documentation of contractor work; observe and perform materials testing; inspect traffic control based on plans and specifications. Use SiteManager, spreadsheets, or other means to document activity.
  • Perform sampling and testing of concrete, soils, base course, and HMA per NMDOT standards.
  • Document work quantities for payment; report pay quantities using electronic systems.
  • Verify contractor compliance with safety procedures; inspect traffic control setups.
  • Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies; exercise responsible decision-making.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in construction, inspection, or testing.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of construction inspection principles, practices, codes, and regulations.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to work independently and in teams; attention to detail; ability to learn and adapt.
  • Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and documentation tools.
  • Proven safety record and adherence to policies.
  • Flexible schedule and willingness to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in concrete, soils, traffic control, or related areas (e.g., ACNM/NMDOT TTCP, ACI, PCI).
