WSP is currently seeking a Full-Time Highway Construction Inspector for our Albuquerque, NM office. Join our Project Management/Construction Management Team and contribute to projects that meet client objectives and solve challenges.
Your Impact
- Perform construction inspection and observation of highway and bridge construction to ensure compliance with NMDOT, Municipality, County, and Tribal plans, specifications, and contract documents. This includes inspection of earthwork, hot mix asphalt, concrete structures, placements, base course, subgrade, guardrail, culverts, drainage, curb, gutter, sidewalk, lighting, signals, striping, utilities, and traffic control.
- Interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents to verify adherence to project requirements.
- Prepare daily work reports, maintain documentation of contractor work, and perform materials testing and traffic control inspections based on plans and specifications. Utilize SiteManager, spreadsheets, or other tools for documentation.
- Conduct sampling and testing of concrete, soils, base course, aggregates, and HMA in accordance with NMDOT and other standards.
- Document work quantities for payment, report pay quantities, and review reports and documentation.
- Verify contractor compliance with safety procedures and inspect traffic control setups.
- Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in construction, inspection, or testing.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of construction inspection principles, practices, and techniques.
- Understanding of relevant codes, regulations, and record-keeping.
- Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical interactions.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to learn new techniques, follow instructions, and work independently or in a team.
- Analytical mindset for sound judgment.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and tools.
- Ability to provide clear feedback and ensure safety and quality standards are met.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to policies.
- Flexibility to work schedules that may extend beyond standard hours.
- Willingness to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in concrete, hot-mix, soils, traffic control, or related areas, or ability to obtain them.
- ACI Certification.
- PCI Certification.
