State Utility Contractors, Inc. is a 100% employee-owned leader in water and wastewater utility construction, seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead our accounting operations in Monroe, NC.

The role reports to the CFO and covers job cost, payroll, contracts, A/R, A/P, reporting, and IT coordination with an outside consultant. The ideal candidate has extensive construction accounting leadership experience, a strong grasp of WIP reporting, and a drive to improve processes while

Qualificações

• 8+ years in accounting/finance leadership, ideally in controller-level roles in cost/construction accounting.
• Solid knowledge of WIP reporting.
• Proactive process improvement while ensuring controls and fraud prevention.
• Strong leadership and teamwork in a collaborative environment.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee accounting staff and internal controls; ensure receivables and payables processed timely with proper documentation.
• Manage month-end and year-end close; produce financial statements.
• Forecast cash flow and manage treasury activities.
• Oversee payroll and benefits, tax filings, and regulatory requirements with external CPA where needed.
• Advise on state contractor tax law and coordinate tax filings with CPA.
• Streamline accounting workflows with IT and automation.
