Job summary

Matrix Executive Search, LLC is assisting a well‑established NYC construction company in sourcing a highly experienced Financial Controller to lead its finance team at the headquarters in New York City.

The role requires 15+ years in construction accounting, strong leadership in budgeting, reporting, and cost control, and collaboration with risk management, operations, and executives to enable growth.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Accounting or Finance required; MBA/CPA desirable.
• Minimum 15 years of related construction accounting experience.
• Public accounting experience is a plus.
• Solid computer skills with multiple construction ERPs.
• Experience hiring, training and developing accounting staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead the financial department coordinating across development, operations, risk management and executives.
• Plan, manage and coordinate all financial functions.
• Oversee AR, AP, Payroll and Job Costing; manage close process and monthly/quarterly/annual reporting.
• Coordinate insurance reporting and audits with Risk Manager.
• Develop and improve financial policies, controls and processes.
