Job summary

Wallick Communities, a 100% employee-owned affordable housing and senior living developer, seeks an Accountant for Development & Construction at our New Albany, OH corporate office. You will manage project ledgers, funding requests, and cost reviews for LIHTC and construction phases, ensuring GAAP compliance and timely reporting.

The role requires a 2+ year accounting background in construction or development, Excel proficiency, and strong analytical, time-management, and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance with minimum of 2 years of experience or comparable experience.
• Experience with construction and affordable / senior living development accounting.
• Knowledge of partnership / LLC structures and financing documents.
• Experience understanding various types of financing sources and flow of funds.
• Familiar with some type of automated accounting software, in addition to Microsoft Office software suite.
• Must be proficient in Excel with an Intermediate knowledge of advanced concepts.
• Must possess the ability to read and analyze financial reports and other accounting data.
• Must be able to respond to inquiries from assigned properties and co-workers.
• Must possess time management and organizational skills necessary for monitoring multiple development jobs.
• Must possess the ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and operations to tasks.

Responsibilities

• Submit monthly funding requests to financing sources while projects are under construction.
• Effectively answer questions that may arise from funding requests.
• Maintain internal documentation, showing status of each funding request.
• Reviewing loan documents, determining the documentation requirements for each funding request.
• Maintain all aspects of project ledgers, including recording settlement statements and monthly funding requests.
• Review project costs in the construction software for accuracy.
• Submit invoices to Accounts Payable and review project AP; assist with weekly check selections.
• Assist in preparation and review of property audits with a focus on fixed assets.
• Assist with forecasting Development and Construction revenue.
• Determine process improvements and implement changes.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
