Job summary

Wallick Communities is seeking an Accountant for Development & Construction at our New Albany, OH corporate office. You will manage accounting for LIHTC, senior living, and workforce housing developments, focusing on rehab/construction financing sources and ensuring GAAP-compliant transactions and reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance with at least 2 years of experience.
• Experience with construction and affordable / senior living development accounting.
• Knowledge of partnership / LLC structures and financing documents.
• Understanding of various financing sources and flow of funds.
• Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office software suite.

Responsibilities

• Submit monthly funding requests to financing sources during construction.
• Answer questions that arise from funding requests.
• Maintain internal documentation showing funding request status.
• Review loan documents and determine documentation requirements.
• Maintain project ledgers including settlement statements and monthly funding.
• Review project costs in construction software for accuracy.
• Submit invoices to Accounts Payable and review project AP.
• Assist in property audits (fixed assets focus).
• Forecast Development and Construction revenue.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Summary: You will maintain full accounting responsibilities for assigned properties to ensure financial transactions, statements, and reports comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Specifically, this role would be focused on managing the sources of financing during the rehab or construction period for LIHTC, senior living and workforce housing developments.

What You'll Do

• Submit monthly funding requests to financing sources while projects are under construction.
• Effectively answer questions that may arise from funding requests.
• Maintain internal documentation, showing status of each funding request.
• Reviewing loan documents, determining the documentation requirements for each funding request.
• Maintain all aspects of project ledgers. Including, but not limited to, recording of settlement statements, monthly funding requests and final book up to place project in service.
• Review project costs in the construction software for accuracy.
• Submit invoices to Accounts Payable and review project AP. Assist with weekly check selections.
• Assist in preparation and review of property audits. Primary focus on fixed assets.
• Assist with forecasting Development and Construction revenue.
• Determine process improvements and implement change.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance with minimum of 2 years of experience or comparable experience.
• Experience with construction and affordable / senior living development accounting.
• Knowledge of partnership / LLC structures and financing documents.
• Experience understanding various types of financing sources and flow of funds.
• Familiar with some type of automated accounting software, in addition to Microsoft Office software suite.
• Must be proficient in Excel with an Intermediate knowledge of advanced concepts.
• Must possess the ability to read and analyze financial reports and other accounting data.
• Must be able to respond to inquiries from assigned properties and co-workers.
• Must possess time management and organizational skills necessary for monitoring multiple development jobs.
• Must possess the ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and operations to tasks.
