Job summary

Community HousingWorks is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to support the Housing Real Estate Development division, focusing on job cost, construction accounting, and cost tracking for development projects. You will collaborate across internal teams and help prepare departmental financial statements for timely reporting.

Responsibilities include overseeing project-level accounts payable, construction draws, intercompany reconciliations, trial balances, and close processes, while working with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college.
• Minimum of five years of accounting experience.
• Construction accounting experience is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with Yardi and MIP/Abila preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee job cost accounting and accounts payable for development projects in coordination with HRED.
• Maintain general ledgers for development entities, including journal entries and cost capitalization.
• Reconcile intercompany accounts across enterprise and development projects.
• Prepare and review project-level trial balance reconciliations.
• Monitor and analyze development project cash balances.
• Support construction draws, funding requests, and disbursements.
• Perform treasury functions for development projects, including cash management activities.
• Lead year-end close and support audits for development entities.
• Coordinate with auditors on cost certifications, eliminating entries, and Form 8609 documentation.
• Review and guide Project Accountants to ensure accuracy and compliance in reporting.
