Job summary

HNTB Corporation in Rocky Hill, CT seeks a senior Construction Field Specialist to provide on-site inspection and monitoring of railroad, highway, and bridge work to ensure compliance with plans and contracts.

You will supervise project staff, interface with clients and contractors, perform complex calculations, review daily reports, and support close-out documentation on large transportation projects.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Engineering, Construction Services, or related field and 10 years relevant experience, or
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, Construction Services, or related field and 8 years of relevant experience, or
  • In lieu of degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work in progress to ensure compliance with project plans and schedules.
  • Interfaces with Client, Company personnel, and Contractor to resolve issues.
  • Performs on-site material testing and assists with equipment maintenance.
  • Assists in as-built record drawings and contract close-out documentation.
  • Reviews project progress meetings and assists in schedule reviews and change orders.

The Construction Field Specialist supervises the work of project staff to determine that contractor's construction activities are monitored and controlled in accordance with design specifications and contractual requirements. May serve as interface on-site between Client, Company Personnel and Contractor in resolution of project issues. May be responsible for project tasks under a Resident Engineer or serving as the assistant to the Resident Engineer on a large and/or complex Project.This role will support on railroad projects which may include inspection of highway, drainage, bridge, rail, track, Overhead Contact System (OCS) and/or other inspections associated with various transportation projects.What You'll Do:Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents, and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.Advises Contractor superintendent of necessary actions to ensure conformance with plan, specs, and contract.Reviews and resolves quantity disputes with contractor.Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform sophisticated and complicated mathematical calculations, constructability and biddability reviews, and measurements of completed work to date.Assists with reviews and checks calculations for Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.Performs on-site material testing and assists with equipment maintenance.Assists with as-built record drawings.Assists with contract close-out documentation.Assists in construction schedule reviews, contractor pay estimate reviews, and change order management.Attends and participates in, as needed, project progress meetings.Serves as field technical subject matter expert.May lead daily assignments, mentor, and train employees.Performs other duties as assigned.What You'll Need:Associates degree in Engineering, Construction Services, or related field and 10 years relevant experience, orBachelor’s in Engineering, Construction Services, or related field and 8 years of relevant experience, orIn lieu of degree, 12 years of relevant experience.What You'll Bring:Ability to interpret contract plans, specifications, and related project documents.Understanding of contractor schedules and the ability to evaluate project progress against established timelines.Knowledge of materials testing requirements, procedures, and testing equipment.Ability to serve as a technical resource in the field by identifying discrepancies, troubleshooting issues, and recommending solutions.What We Prefer:10 years of relevant experience.In lieu of degree, 14 years of relevant experienceExperience with CTDOT and/or Metro-North Railroad projects including inspection of highway, drainage, bridge, rail, track, Overhead Contact System (OCS) and/or other inspections associated with various transportation projects.Additional InformationClick here for benefits information: HNTB Total RewardsClick here to learn more about Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/VeteranVisa sponsorship is not available for this position.#RV #ConstructionManagement #TransitAndRail.Locations:Rocky Hill, CT (Hartford).................The approximate pay range for Connecticut is $121,423.35 - $189,918.58.
