Job summary

HNTB Corporation in Rocky Hill, CT is seeking a senior field specialist to perform inspection and construction supervision on railroad projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specs, and contract requirements. This role may supervise project staff and liaison with client, company personnel, and contractors.

You will conduct on-site tests, assist with as-built drawings, schedule reviews, and change order management, bringing ten+ years of relevant experience and a strong technical resource

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering/Construction Services with 10 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with 8 years.
• In lieu of degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to interpret contract plans, specifications, and related project documents.
• Knowledge of materials testing requirements, procedures, and testing equipment.
• Experience with CTDOT and/or Metro-North Railroad projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work for schedule, contract, and plans.
• Confirms procedures are followed and materials conform to specifications.
• Advises contractor superintendent to ensure conformance with plan, specs, and contract.
• Reviews and resolves quantity disputes with contractor.
• Performs complex calculations, constructability and biddability reviews, and measurements.
• Assists with Inspector's daily report, labor/equipment, material quantities.
• Performs on-site material testing and assists with equipment maintenance.
• Assists with as-built record drawings and contract close-out docs.
• Supports schedule reviews and change order management; attends progress meetings.
