Job summary

Riley Construction in the Midwest seeks a Field Safety Specialist to help implement and administer the company safety program, ensuring a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment across SE Wisconsin and northern IL. This role supports the Safety Manager and partners with site teams to uphold best practices.

You will conduct site inspections, enforce OSHA requirements, maintain records, and coordinate with owners and supervisors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in occupational safety and health (or equivalent), or relevant safety qualifications.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Willingness to travel to job sites for inspections and meetings, SE Wisconsin and northern IL.
• 5+ years of work experience in safety.

Responsibilities

• Assists Safety Manager in planning and implementing the organization's safety and health program.
• Conducts regular walk-through inspections on job sites and enforces OSHA requirements.
• Verifies insurance compliance using logs and maintains discipline records as needed.
• Identifies and documents hazardous conditions and follows through to corrective action.
• Investigates incidents and prepares reports per regulations.
• Conducts industrial hygiene samplings to ensure safe conditions.
• Supports on-site inspections with owners and supervisors to identify hazards.
• Provides Safety Committee updates and suggests new safety ideas.
• Conducts job site safety orientations and follows owner-specific requirements.
• Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

We currently have an opening for a qualified Field Safety Specialist.

The Field Safety Specialist assists in the implementation and administration of the company safety and health program to maintain a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment. The Field Safety Specialist works under the direction and supervision of the Safety Manager.

Duties include traveling to job sites for inspections and meetings. Job sites are primarily located in SE Wisconsin and northern IL.

Responsibilities:

• Assists Safety Manager in planning and implementing the organization's safety and health program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free workplace.
• Conducts regular walk-through inspections on job sites, enforces OSHA requirements on jobsites. Verifies insurance compliance by using insurance logs.
• Enforces disciplinary practices (verbal warnings, maintaining records of discipline, etc.) when required, to reinforce proper safety and health practices.
• Identifies, documents and recommends resolution of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions; follow through to ensure corrections have been made.
• Investigates personal injury and property damage incidents. Compiles data, photographs, etc. and prepares all pertinent forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state and local regulations associated with incidents.
• Conducts various industrial hygiene samplings, such as gas, O2, noise to ensure safe working conditions.
• Assists in conducting employee/craft and insurance inspections. May accompany federal, state and insurance inspectors on walk through tours
• Partners with owners and supervisors to identify potential hazards on site and ensure appropriate permits are obtained.
• Provides Safety Committee updates on disciplinary actions and recommends new safety ideas for consideration.
• Conducts job site safety orientations as necessary. May include owner-specific safety requirements.
