Job summary

Riley Construction is seeking a Field Safety Specialist to join our team in SE Wisconsin and northern IL. You will support the Safety Manager by implementing and administering our safety and health program to keep job sites compliant and accident-free.

Responsibilities include site inspections, enforcing OSHA standards, investigating incidents, and conducting industrial hygiene sampling. Travel to job sites is required, partnering with owners and supervisors to identify hazards and ensure

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in occupational safety and health (or equivalent), or relevant safety qualifications.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites for inspections and meetings. Job sites are primarily located in SE Wisconsin and northern IL.
  • 5+ years of work experience in safety.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Safety Manager in planning and implementing safety and health program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free workplace.
  • Conduct regular walk-through inspections on job sites, enforce OSHA requirements on jobsites. Verifies insurance compliance by using insurance logs.
  • Enforces disciplinary practices (verbal warnings, maintaining records of discipline, etc.) when required, to reinforce proper safety and health practices.
  • Identifies, documents and recommends resolution of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions; follow through to ensure corrections have been made.
  • Investigates personal injury and property damage incidents. Compiles data, photographs, etc. and prepares all pertinent forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state and local regulations associated with incidents.
  • Conducts various industrial hygiene samplings, such as gas, O2, noise to ensure safe working conditions.
  • Assists in conducting employee/craft and insurance inspections. May accompany federal, state and insurance inspectors on walk through tours
  • Partners with owners and supervisors to identify potential hazards on site and ensure appropriate permits are obtained.
  • Provides Safety Committee updates on disciplinary actions and recommends new safety ideas for consideration.
  • Conducts job site safety orientations as necessary. May include owner-specific safety requirements.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

Skills
