Job summary

C.W. Matthews is seeking a Safety Coordinator for our Coastal Division to help keep workers safe, ensure project compliance, and support supervisors with practical safety solutions on active jobsites.

This hands‑on role emphasizes field presence, strong communication with craft teams and management, incident investigations, and the development of effective safety plans. Travel between sites is expected as projects move forward.

Qualifications

• Construction safety experience or a four‑year degree in Safety/OSH/EHS with practical safety experience
• Ability to work effectively in active construction environments
• OSHA knowledge and understanding of construction safety practices

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and observations
• Identify and correct potential hazards with project teams
• Assist with safety orientations, toolbox talks, and employee training
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions and assist with corrective actions
• Maintain safety documentation, reports, inspections, and records
• Develop and implement safety plans in collaboration with project leadership
• Travel between active project sites as needed
