Job summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Layout Surveyor to perform routine construction site layout tasks, establish building corners, and maintain reference points for accurate project placement.

The role includes verifying elevations, laying out column centers, and ensuring exterior skin clearances while coordinating with project teams. A minimum of 2+ years in layout is required, with a High School/GED and preferred Construction Management degree.

Qualifications

• High School/GED or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management preferred.
• In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered.
• 2+ years construction layout experience required.

Responsibilities

• Plans, sets up, and maintains layout control for assigned projects.
• Establishes building corners and reference points for back checks of location.
• Verify elevations shown on drawings for roadways and utilities.
• Lay out column center lines and wall locations, ensuring exterior skin clearance.
• Plumbs structural steel frame and checks column alignments.
• Set and maintain floor benchmarks and control lines for layout accuracy.
• Check slab elevations and alignment during concrete pours.
• Perform as-built surveys and identify conflicts between work.
• Assist with securing certified layout from independent engineering resources.
• Coordinate shop drawings and verify discrepancies with contract drawings.
• Care for and calibrate engineering equipment.
• Compile and maintain project records and as-built documents.
