Job description

Fresno, United States | Posted on 10/04/2026

As a Construction Field Engineer at A-C Electric Company, you’ll work close to the field while developing the project-management skills that help construction teams execute accurately and efficiently. You’ll support the Project Manager and project team by keeping critical information current, observing work in place, coordinating project documentation, and helping connect what is happening in the field with schedules, drawings, quality requirements, and project controls. You’ll gain practical exposure to how electrical construction projects are planned, documented, coordinated, and built while taking increasing responsibility for dependable project support.

What You’ll Do

As a Construction Field Engineer, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Maintaining accurate project documentation by supporting submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), drawing revisions, progress drawings, and document-control logs while keeping project information current and accessible in Procore and established project systems.
  • Supporting scheduling and production tracking by completing schedule updates as directed, maintaining project records, communicating updates to the appropriate teams, and helping compare installed work with production information and current drawings.
  • Observing quality and field progress by participating in site walks and assigned quality assurance/quality control reviews, documenting installed work with photos, and reporting discrepancies or coordination needs to the project team.
  • Reviewing project requirements and identifying issues by reading plans, specifications, and other project documents, recognizing inconsistencies or changes, and bringing questions or potential problems to the appropriate project-team members.
  • Coordinating information across the project team by participating in meetings, documenting updates and action items, supporting inspection and permitting activities, and helping office and field teams maintain a shared understanding of project status and requirements.

Additional duties will include:

  • Supporting change documentation by gathering information related to potential scope changes and maintaining accurate records in established project-control systems.
  • Assisting with field logs and reporting by documenting site observations, work progress, manpower information, and other project information requested by the Project Manager or project team.
  • Supporting project closeout by helping assemble accurate, complete, and organized closeout documentation and final project records.
  • Promoting safe project execution by participating in safety activities, remaining alert to field conditions, and promptly reporting unsafe conditions through the appropriate project and Safety-team channels.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement by sharing useful observations and feedback that can improve project documentation, coordination, quality, and workflow.
What You Bring
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of construction processes, sequencing, and terminology sufficient to understand project activities and continue developing technical knowledge on the job.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills, with the ability to maintain accurate information, manage changing priorities, and follow assigned work through to completion.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to exchange information effectively with office and field team members and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • A dependable, proactive approach to learning, including the willingness to seek feedback, take on new responsibilities, ask questions, and build capability through hands‑on project experience.
What Will Help You Stand Out
  • Previous construction or electrical field experience, particularly experience that has given you familiarity with how work is sequenced, coordinated, and installed on an active project.
  • Construction‑related education, such as coursework or a degree in Construction Management or a related field.
  • Experience reading construction drawings, specifications, or other technical project documents.
  • Familiarity with construction project software, document‑management systems, Microsoft Office applications, or tools such as Procore.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, with an ability to notice changes, inconsistencies, and field conditions that may affect quality, coordination, or project progress.
What Success Looks Like
  • Project information stays accurate and useful, as submittals, drawings, logs, photos, schedule information, and other assigned records are current, organized, and reliable enough for the project team to use confidently.
  • You connect field activity with project documentation, comparing field conditions with plans and project information, and raising discrepancies or coordination needs to the appropriate team members.
  • Your support keeps project processes moving, as assigned schedule updates, submittals, meeting follow‑up, inspections, closeout documentation, and other responsibilities receive consistent attention and follow‑through.
  • You become increasingly fluent in construction execution, strengthening your ability to read plans and specifications, understanding sequencing and project systems, recognizing quality concerns, and communicating effectively across field and project teams.
  • The project team can depend on you, because you meet commitments, stay organized when priorities change, communicate issues promptly, and use feedback and experience to take on greater responsibility over time.

For over 80 years, we’ve built a reputation for delivering some of the industry’s most challenging electrical construction projects through technical expertise, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to safety and quality.
