Job summary

Cape Associates, Inc. in Massachusetts seeks an Equipment Operator/General Laborer to support field crews with safe operation of trucks and machinery. You will perform maintenance, assist on job sites, and help manage tools and materials.

The role requires strong communication, the ability to follow orders under pressure, and experience operating equipment. CDL and Hoisting license preferred; OSHA 10 required. Competitive benefits included.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts Driver's License and Hoisting Engineer License (2A) required.

Responsibilities

Compensation:

Candidates who possess a valid CDL license will be considered for compensation at the higher end of the designated pay range, based on qualifications & experience.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure all equipment is maintained & used in accordance with company health & safety regulations.
• Clean, lubricate, & perform regular safety checks on equipment.
• Ensure equipment is properly positioned before turning it on & off or loading & unloading it.
• Train new crew members in the safe operation of equipment.
• Perform other construction duties as needed.
• Observe the safe distribution of construction materials.
• Promptly report all faults to the Construction Supervisor or Foreman.
• Ensure sites are kept safe & clean.
• Attend meetings & refresher courses to ensure responsible equipment operation.
• Identify faults & troubleshoot equipment as required.
• Assist the Warehouse Team on an as needed basis.

Warehouse/Yard/Truck Driver Duties Include:

• Assist with coordinating & transporting tools & equipment to job sites using non-CDL vehicles.
• Follow up on lost tools: Monitor condition of tools & note that in the system.
• Job site trash removal Trailering Snow Plowing (light duty) Roll the parking lots once a week with magnet.
• Help to clean, organize, & maintain two ?Receiving? bays with bay floors to be always as clear as possible.
• Dispose of roofing tar, contact cement, oil-based paints, & all hazardous building materials legally (Discourage return to shop of hazardous materials & paints)
• Empty all office trashes in both locations once a day & as needed.
• Perform small maintenance duties such as changing light bulbs, as needed, in all office buildings.
• Maintain & clean snowplow(s) & gas grille.
• Maintain & organize yard, parking areas, signs, receiving areas, dumpster, fences, racks, ladders, & tarps.
• Manage toxic shed ? check for container leakage & secure/lock at end of day.
• Test & maintain sign & building lights & timer.
• Receive & assist in unloading deliveries, checking in orders, & distributing to project managers, job sites, or store in warehouse.
• Keep list of job surplus items in warehouse & yard that can be utilized/taken (i.e., insulation, extra windows/doors, appliances, flooring) & email project managers on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
• Assist in counting physical inventory monthly.
