Hui Huliau is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost estimation. You will play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates, ensuring project profitability, and contributing to successful project bidding.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and documents to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to gather necessary project details.
- Calculate material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs for construction projects.
- Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive pricing.
- Prepare and present detailed cost analysis and bid proposals.
- Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans for cost overruns.
- Stay up to date on market trends, material costs, and industry standards.
- Assist in value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
- Maintain and update cost databases for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Coordinate with project managers to monitor budgets and ensure cost control during execution.
Education & Skills Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, RSMeans, or similar tools).
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in specific industries, e.g., residential, commercial, federal construction projects.
- Certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or equivalent are a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of scheduling software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).
- Familiarity with office computers and equipment, telephones, radios, Microsoft Office suite of tools, web-based applications such as Procore, electronic spreadsheets and database analysis, outputs, and reporting, virtual data sharing platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, etc.) and other forms of remote work-sharing tools.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and work at a computer for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 25lbs on occasion, stretching, climbing stairs, and walking.
