Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Estimator to prepare estimates for commercial projects and support the project team in all estimating tasks. You will read contract documents, perform quantity take-offs, price information, and solicit bids from subs and suppliers to ensure accurate cost capture.

You should have a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management and at least 3 years of estimating experience, with strong Timberline and Excel skills and knowledge of bid proposal

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management or equivalent education/experience.
• At least 3 years of estimating commercial construction projects in hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating.
• Excellent working knowledge of Timberline and Excel.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word.

Responsibilities

• Prepares estimates for potential projects using hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating.
• Reads and understands contract documents (plans, specifications & addenda).
• Performs quantity take-offs, organizes and prices information.
• Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Communicates with subs and suppliers to clarify pricing information.
• Prepares estimate formats in general conditions, bidding, quantity takeoffs and bid analysis.
• Assists with bid proposals for submittal.
• Prepares outline schedules for proposed projects.
• Assists staff with special projects related to estimating.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
