Construction Estimator (Drywall & Carpentry)

Work directly for a Hunterdon County, NJ area company that delivers a wide variety of construction projects including office, retail, commercial, governmental, educational, medical, and heavy construction projects.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, motivated Estimator to join our team full-time. The ideal candidate can be either a junior estimator looking to grow or an experienced estimator ready to take ownership of mid-size to large-scale project bids. This role is critical in helping us secure and successfully deliver drywall and carpentry scopes across commercial, institutional, and mixed-use projects throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, and general carpentry.
2. Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
3. Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor/vendor quotes.
4. Work closely with project managers and superintendents to ensure estimating accuracy and scope alignment.
5. Participate in bid meetings and pre-construction walk-throughs.
6. Assist with value engineering and budget development as needed.
7. Track historical cost data for ongoing pricing improvements.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of experience in estimating (commercial construction preferred).
• Strong understanding of drywall, carpentry, and related trades.
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift) and Excel.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to manage time and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
