Position Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Estimator to play a pivotal role in our preconstruction phase. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, analyzing specifications, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure accurate pricing. The Senior Estimator will work closely with a team of estimators and with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to develop comprehensive and detailed cost estimates.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Cost Estimation
    • Utilize industry-standard methods to prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects.
    • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to determine scope, materials, and labor requirements.
    • Conduct thorough take-offs and quantify materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  2. Proposal Preparation
    • Prepare comprehensive pricing proposals.
    • Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain accurate and up-to-date pricing information.
    • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure completeness and competitiveness.
  3. Team Involvement
    • Provide guidance, mentorship, and foster a collaborative work environment with a team of preconstruction professionals.
    • Conduct training sessions and ensure the team is up-to-date with the latest industry trends and estimating techniques.
  4. Risk Assessment
    • Identify and assess potential risks and opportunities associated with project estimates.
    • Work collaboratively with other departments to develop strategies to mitigate risks and enhance project success.
  5. Client and Stakeholder Communication
    • Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and expectations.
    • Participate in kickoff meetings, site visits, and client presentations as necessary.
Qualifications

Required

  1. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, and 7+ years of experience, or 12+ years of experience.
  2. Proven experience as a Construction Estimator with senior-level responsibilities.
  3. Strong proficiency in construction estimating software and tools.
  4. Excellent knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
  5. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Effective mentorship and guidance.
  7. Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  8. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Additional preferred qualifications include:

  1. Experience with alternative delivery mechanisms (CMGC; Design/Build).
  2. Strong MEP knowledge and experience.
  3. Proficiency in project budget control.
