Job summary

Peyton Resource Group in San Antonio is seeking a Construction Estimator / Project Manager to own light commercial projects from bidding through completion. You will review plans, perform takeoffs, solicit subcontractor quotes, manage budgets and schedules, and coordinate with clients and field teams to ensure quality and profitability.

This role is office-based with occasional site visits and requires strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in construction estimating and/or project management.
• Strong estimating experience within light commercial construction.
• Experience with restaurants, convenience stores, retail, or similar commercial projects is highly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project scopes.
• Proven experience with material and labor takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid preparation.
• Understanding of construction methods, materials, subcontractor pricing, and labor requirements.
• Experience managing project schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and project execution.
• Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate construction estimates, budgets, and competitive bids for light commercial projects.
• Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, scopes of work, and project documents.
• Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs to determine project costs.
• Obtain, review, and compare pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
• Manage projects from contract award through completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality expectations are met.
• Coordinate subcontractors, materials, deliveries, manpower, and field personnel.
• Monitor project costs, schedules, purchase orders, change orders, and overall profitability.
• Communicate regularly with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal team members.
• Identify potential project risks and proactively address issues to keep projects on track.
• Maintain organized project documentation and provide updates on project progress.
