Job summary

Garman Partners is seeking a skilled estimator to support commercial, industrial, and mission-critical construction bids. You will review project documents, solicit bids from subcontractors, attend pre-bid meetings, and collaborate with vendors to develop accurate, competitive estimates.

Responsibilities

  • Review and understand project documents (plans, specifications, addenda, RFIs, etc).
  • Solicit and maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors for bids. Handle all interactions to build a long-term relationship.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings to become familiar with scope, logistics, concerns, and opportunities of the project.
  • Submit bid questions and clarifications to project team as needed.
  • Work closely with estimating co-workers on large or multi-trade projects.
  • Perform comprehensive “bid day” analysis of scope of work and pricing submitted by subcontractors and vendors
  • Use creative thinking and resourcefulness to find best solutions to possibly separate ourselves from our competition or to maximize profit.
  • Take ownership of each bid and be proactive in approach to every project.
  • Double-check all critical work to minimize mistakes.
  • Evaluate bid information, develop final job costs, and prepare proposal for submission.
  • Follow-up on submitted bids in order to close business.
  • Properly turn-over awarded bids to project management team.
  • Maintain and enhance professional & technical knowledge by attending workshops, seminars, participating in professional societies, and reading trade publications.
  • Initiate suggestions for company-wide process improvements.
