Job summary

Perfetto Contracting Co Inc in Brooklyn, NY is seeking an experienced heavy civil estimating professional to join our growing team. The role focuses on site work, utilities, and public/private bids with responsibilities for takeoffs, subs coordination, and bid submissions.

You will use HCSS estimating software, read RFQ/RFP docs, visit project sites when needed, and help prepare detailed schedules and bid proposals.

Perfetto is seeking an experienced heavy civil Construction Estimating professionalthat has strong interpersonal skills and possesses a solid business acumen to join our rapidly growing team of construction professionals!

Estimator for Utility and Site Work (Public and Private agencies)

Responsibilities:

• Prepare site work/ utility – heavy civil estimates thoroughly in a timely manner including takeoff, solicitation with proper backup and supplementary information using HCSS estimating software
• Read and review all bid RFQ and RFP documentation to have a thorough understanding of the project
• Research construction documents and analyze specifications
• Perform detailed takeoffs
• Solicitation, coordinating with subs and suppliers for their quotations
• Analyze and evaluate sub/vendor quotes/offers
• Enter and finalize quotations in the estimate for bid submission
• Ensure relevant documents and budgets are submitted before bid deadline
• Visit project sites necessary to do the estimate
• Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers; create lists of appropriate contacts for specific projects
• Assist in the preparation of bid proposal for submittal
• Prepare detailed schedules for proposed projects
• Initiate schematic plans or sketches to illustrate approach and strategy
• Perform other related duties as assigned or required
• Able to work alone or with other estimators for the same estimate project depending on the job needs

Qualifications:

Key Requirements:

• Minimum overall 5 years + (field and estimating) work experience in heavy civil-Site and Construction Utility work experience required
• Possess a minimum of two years hands on heavy civil field operations experience in site work, utility, and heavy civil area highly desired
• Minimum 3 years + experience in estimating working for General Contractor(s) in varying size on utility/ site work estimates
• Underground utility work (storm, sanitary sewer, and water main), earth work, and roadwork knowledge
• Experience in and very familiar with NYSDOT, NYCDDC, NYCDEP specifications, and contracts for site and utility projects is strongly preferred
• Local-NY or NJ and able to commute to Brooklyn daily
• Estimating experience on public works projects in New York and New Jersey is most desirable

Other required qualifications for this role:

• BS degree in civil engineering or construction management
• Demonstrate the ability or potential to lead a team for multiple projects and pursuits at any one given time
• Have desire to grow in the estimating department
• Expert knowledge of HCSS estimating software preferred or willing to learn it rapidly
• Knowledge of creating schedules in P6 and Microsoft Project
• Able to work remotely in a very effective way when needed
• Possess a strong work ethic; good people/ soft skills; demonstrate good organization, verbal, and written communication skills; excellent leadership skills
• Strong time management skills and able to thrive under pressure
