Job summary

IAPMO is seeking a seasoned Full-Mechanical Estimator to join our Preconstruction team in California or Tennessee. You will develop detailed estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and process piping for large-scale commercial projects, collaborating with design teams and operations to pursue and turnover bids.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of mechanical estimating experience on healthcare, data centers, biotech, and complex facilities, proficiency with Trimble AutoBid and MS Office, and a strong ability

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical estimating experience on large, complex commercial projects.
• Experience with mission critical/data centers, healthcare/HCAI, laboratories, biotech/pharmaceutical, high-rise, stadiums, education, airports/transportation, and hospitality.
• Demonstrated experience preparing Design-Build, Design-Assist, Plans & Specifications, and conceptual estimates.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction methods, labor productivity, equipment, and materials.
• Experience supporting or managing preconstruction efforts on complex mechanical projects.
• Proficiency with estimating and digital takeoff software; Trimble AutoBid preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify value engineering solutions.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight bid deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across Preconstruction, Operations, and Project Management teams.

We are seeking an experienced Full-Mechanical Estimator with a strong background in large-scale commercial construction, including healthcare, mission critical/data centers, biotech/pharmaceutical, and other complex technical facilities.

As a key member of our Preconstruction team, the Estimator plays an integral role in driving company growth through accurate estimating, competitive procurement, and strategic project pursuit. This position is responsible for developing comprehensive estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and process piping systems and collaborating with Preconstruction, Operations, and Project Management throughout the pursuit and turnover process.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and/or process piping systems, including material, equipment, and labor costs.
• Develop Design-Build, Design-Assist, Plans & Specifications, and conceptual estimates and budgets.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and analyze drawings, specifications, addenda, and other bid documents.
• Develop competitive bid proposals and comprehensive estimate packages.
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor proposals.
• Identify project risks, scope gaps, constructability concerns, and potential cost impacts.
• Partner with project teams to develop value engineering and cost-saving solutions.
• Participate in preconstruction strategy, bid reviews, scope reviews, and project pursuit meetings.
• Collaborate with Project Management following award to complete estimate turnover and bid recap reviews.
• Assist Operations with pricing and cost analysis throughout the construction lifecycle as needed.
• Maintain current knowledge of labor productivity, material pricing, equipment costs, and market conditions.

• Experience with projects such as mission critical/data centers, healthcare/HCAI, laboratories, biotech/pharmaceutical, high-rise, stadiums, education, airports/transportation, and hospitality.
• Demonstrated experience preparing Design-Build, Design-Assist, Plans & Specifications, and conceptual estimates.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction methods, labor productivity, equipment, and materials.
• Experience supporting or managing preconstruction efforts on complex mechanical projects.
• Proficiency with estimating and digital takeoff software; Trimble AutoBid preferred.
