The Scott Humphrey Corporation in the Dallas area is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator with a focus on K-12 projects. The role involves preconstruction work, managing estimates and competitive bids for ground-up construction, renovations, and campus improvements.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with public school projects in North Texas, strong knowledge of local subcontractor markets, and the ability to navigate public procurement processes and complex bid documents.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating or preconstruction experience with a commercial general contractor.
• K-12 construction experience strongly preferred, including ground-up schools, additions, renovations, or occupied campus improvements.
• Experience bidding publicly funded projects using CSP and/or CMAR methods.
• Strong ability to read drawings and specifications and perform takeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed conceptual budgets, cost estimates, and competitive bids for K-12 construction projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals for competitive pricing.
• Collaborate with preconstruction leadership, project managers, architects, and trade partners during bidding.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities, value engineering solutions, and project risks.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors in the DFW market and monitor market trends.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and bid reviews.

We are partnering with an established commercial general contractor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area seeking an experienced Construction Estimator with a strong background in K-12 educational projects.

This individual will play a key role in preconstruction, managing estimates and competitive bids for ground-up construction, renovations, additions, and campus improvement projects. The ideal candidate will have experience estimating public school projects throughout North Texas and a strong understanding of local subcontractor markets, construction costs, and public procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed conceptual budgets, cost estimates, and competitive bids for K-12 construction projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure comprehensive and competitive pricing.
• Collaborate with preconstruction leadership, project managers, architects, and trade partners throughout the bidding process.
• Identify potential cost-saving opportunities, value engineering solutions, and project risks.
• Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors throughout the DFW market.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and bid reviews.
• Assist with bid strategy, scope development, and project handoff to operations teams.
• Maintain accurate historical cost data and stay informed of local market pricing and industry trends.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating or preconstruction experience with a commercial general contractor.
• K-12 construction experience strongly preferred, including ground-up schools, additions, renovations, or occupied campus improvements.
• Experience bidding publicly funded construction projects, including competitive sealed proposals (CSP) and/or construction manager-at-risk (CMAR) delivery methods.
• Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, building systems, and subcontractor scopes.
• Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software such as Bluebeam, OST, Sage Estimating, or similar platforms.
• Established relationships within the Dallas-Fort Worth subcontractor market preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and bid deadlines simultaneously.
