Job DescriptionJob Description

We have an immediate opportunity for a Construction Civil Estimator for the Los Angeles area. This individual will be responsible for reviewing the details of the plans, preparing the estimates, supporting the project manager and the vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Cost estimating, continued data analysis and make recommendations
• Ability to provide technical direction as required
• Prepare cost schedule
• Experience preparing cost and schedule product for the proposals or contract negotiations
• Perform and review methodology for quantity takeoff from design drawings
• Provide detailed pricing for labor rates and other direct costs to include basis and assumption documentation denoting rationale, inclusions and exclusions
• Knowledge and ability to develop analysis for project cash models and the time value of money as the cost of working capital correlating scheduled activities and costs
• Support training as needed
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Construction Science Engineering or equivalent experience
• Must have experience with HCSS software
• One or more certifications desired: CPE, CCT, CEP, PSP, EVP, PMI-SP CCM, PRMP, PE
• 5 - 10 years of experience as a construction estimator with significant experience on highway and bridge projects
• Advance knowledge of construction estimating concepts, construction scheduling
• Heavy civil and utilities experience a plus and working with large projects $100M or more
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwif, or Sage Estimating and HCSS Heavy Bid software
• Experience working with and interpreting architectural and engineering drawing accurately
• City of Los Angeles and LAWA experience desired
