Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc is seeking an Estimating Intern to join our team in a part-time student role. You will work with seasoned estimators to gain hands-on experience in construction estimating while balancing academic commitments.

As a part-time intern, you will assist with cost estimates, bids, and cross-team collaboration, while learning estimating software and safety practices on the job. The position offers growth potential within ESS.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a university, college, or technical school in a relevant field such as engineering or construction management.
• Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and attention to detail.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills are important.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Basic knowledge of construction or estimating concepts is a plus but not required.
• Punctuality and reliability are essential.
• Familiarity with estimating software (InEight, HeavyBid, HCSS, Bid2Win, AGTEK, Planswift, Bluebeam) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with cost estimates by reviewing project plans and documents to determine scope and costs.
• Support bid proposals by preparing takeoffs and cost estimates under supervision.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure estimates are accurate and complete.
• Monitor project costs and flag potential overruns.
• Communicate with crew, subcontractors, and team members to support schedules and budgets.
• Follow safety protocols during site visits and work activities.
• Take advantage of on-the-job learning to build estimating knowledge and software exposure.
