Job summary

Stephenson Equipment, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA seeks a Construction Equipment Mechanic to service and repair heavy machinery, diagnose defects, and ensure equipment safety and performance. You will read manuals, inspect units, and perform repairs as part of a skilled field team.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Prior experience in working on heavy equipment is preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts
  • Operate and inspect machines to diagnose defects
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair to ensure performance
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance
  • Schedule maintenance and keep service records
  • Read operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Overhaul and test machines to ensure efficiency
  • Assemble gear systems and align frames and gears
  • Fit bearings to repair or overhaul equipment
  • Weld or solder broken parts and structural members
  • Adjust, maintain, and repair subassemblies such as transmissions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Stephenson Equipment, Inc (SEI), an industry leader in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and New York providing sales, rentals, parts and service for construction equipment, cranes, paving, road building and road maintenance equipment, has an immediate need for an Construction Equipment Mechanic in our Pittsburgh, PA location.

Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment in order to diagnose defects
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles
  • Comply with all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE
  • Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment, and keep equipment service records
  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency
  • Assemble gear systems, and align frames and gears
  • Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment
  • Weld or solder broken parts and structural members, using electric or gas welders and soldering tools
  • Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies, such as transmissions and crawler heads, using hand tools, jacks, and cranes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
Our Best fit will have:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Continued Education with a technical school is a plus
  • Prior experience in working on heavy equipment
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to lift 50lbs with an occasional lift up to 100lbs with assistance of a crane
