Job summary

Jobtailor in Kentucky is seeking an exceptional Engineering Manager to direct the construction, commissioning, and ongoing optimization of the Blue Grass Army Depot Energetics Center of Excellence explosives manufacturing facility.

You will oversee multi-disciplinary engineering teams and coordinate with customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to align technical solutions with program objectives.

Qualifications

• ABET‑accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
• 15+ years of experience developing, implementing, and sustaining enterprise‑wide, large‑scale information systems.
• 10+ years of senior engineering leadership experience across multiple disciplines in U.S. Federal contracts involving munitions, chemicals, and construction.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance.
• Experience managing teams or subcontractors on large DoD construction projects and DoD program management.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Manage engineering progress for construction of the new Blue Grass Army Depot Energetics Center of Excellence explosives manufacturing facility
• Lead strategic execution of engineering and process equipment installation through manufacturing plant commissioning
• Manage engineering resources and standardize/optimize processes
• Foster team development and establish/maintain customer relationships
• Supervise employees, conduct performance appraisals, coach/develop lower-level professionals, and provide technical guidance
• Make decisions on engineering problems and methods
• Represent the organization with customers and at tradeshows
• Lead engineering tasks on highly visible projects as workload requires
• Lead and manage engineering progress on site
• Oversee subcontractors developing design, implementation, integration, and sustainment of complex construction and process equipment
• Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements, engineering standards, and contractual obligations
• Manage engineering schedules, technical risks, resource allocation, and project deliverables
• Coordinate with program management, customers, subcontractors, and technical stakeholders
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to engineering personnel
• Support proposal development, technical reviews, engineering documentation, and strategic planning
• Drive continuous improvement and align engineering solutions with mission objectives and customer expectations

Requirements

• Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
• Must be a US citizen
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Systems Engineering from an ABET accredited University
• Previous experience as an Engineering Manager
• 15 years of demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and sustaining enterprise-wide, large-scale information systems
• Minimum 10+ years of experience with multiple engineering disciplines related to mechanical, electrical, and process engineering on U.S. Federal contracts involving Munitions and Chemical Plant construction
• Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience in a senior engineering leadership position
• Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience managing teams or subcontractors engaging in large scale new construction for the U.S. government
• Experience in DoD program/project management including program development and transition (typo: no closing).Wait this should be
• Experience with Integrated Master Schedules and risk management
• Demonstrated experience managing projects involving Energetics Manufacturing, Explosives Manufacturing, Chemical Manufacturing, and Other Munition Manufacturing
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams, manage technical resources, and oversee multiple engineering initiatives while ensuring successful project execution
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Expertise with root cause analysis and implementing change recommendations
• Travel may be required to support manufacturing sites, suppliers, and customers
• Preferred: extensive experience supporting complex Department of Defense
• Preferred: Master’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited University
• Preferred: minimum 15+ years of experience with multiple engineering disciplines related to mechanical, electrical engineering, optical and software engineering
• Preferred: Professional Engineering License (PE)
• Preferred: extensive experience in the coordination and oversight of large scale subcontractor work
