Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a four-year accredited institution.
  • Engineering technology degree with PE may be considered.
  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree preferred.
  • Engineer II: 2+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineer III: 4 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineer Sr: 6 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Preferred: power system, relay, or substation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Distribution, Substation, and Transmission Line Construction projects in different areas.
  • Prepare construction contracts, schedules, cost tracking, progress reporting and project team coordination.
  • Provide engineering field technical support to substation, distribution, and transmission line crews.
  • Review Substation (Electrical and Relay Controls) and D-Line/T-Line design packages for construction.
  • Participate in planning, scoping, and brainstorming with applicable departments and customers.
  • Support capital work management process with scheduling, outages, estimates, and resource development.
  • Ensure safety, QA/QC, and compliance with Entergy policies; manage invoices and project closeout.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

Performs a wide variety of planning, project management, construction, and operations activities including emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the coordination of various Distribution, Substation, and Transmission Line Construction projects in different areas of Entergy.
  • Responsible for preparing construction contracts, construction schedules, cost tracking, progress reporting and project team coordination within a strong matrixorganization to facilitate safe construction of facilities from 13.8kV to 500kV for both internal and external customers.
  • Job will require providing engineering field technical support to substation anddistribution and transmission line construction crews.
  • Job will require technical reviews of Substation (Electrical and Relay Controls) andD-Line and T-Line design- packages issued for construction.
  • Responsible for participating in the planning, scoping, and brainstorming sessionswith all applicable departments, and a diverse customer base (internal and external).
  • The Engineer will continue to participate throughout the entire capital work process by establishing the sequenced schedule duration's outage, coordination, preparing construction estimates, identifying resources (internal or contract), development
    and preparation of contractual agreements for necessary resources, commitment to fostering, encouraging, and policing all safety measure, performing quality assurance and control, verifying and processing of invoices, completion of as-builts, and project closeout.
  • Engineer must be dedicated and committed to providing a safe, quality, and productive work environment conducive to meeting all obligations required by policies, procedures, specifications, and applicable laws of the local, state, and national agencies.
  • The engineer shall typically interface with multiple organizations.
  • These communications articulate into the Construction Management Engineer performing a wide variety of duties such as, identification of safety hazards, the elimination/mitigation of hazards on projects, environmental stewardship, development of project scopes, development of project estimates, development of construction sequence plans, development of project schedules, performing constructability review, tracking/receiving materials and equipment, requesting contract proposals, identifying and initiating environmental compliance tactics, coordination of schedules, outage identification/coordination, deficiency resolution, quality assurance, reporting cost, issue resolution, and closure of projects.
  • The engineer's time allotment is comprised of three major categories: support of the capital work management process @ 40%.
  • Compilation of the project and construction execution plan and associated activities @40% field inspection for scoping and determining check and adjustments for a successful project completion @ 20%.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from four-year accredited institution.
  • Degrees in engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution with PE may be considered.
  • Desired - Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • Engineer II:2+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineer III: at least 4 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineer Sr: at least 6 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Preferred: power system, relay, or substation experience.

  • Engineer SR: EITor Graduate Level Engineering Degree or MBA.
  • Preferred: EITor PE
