Entergy Texas, Inc.-GTX seeks an Engineer I-Sr. (Trans) to perform planning, maintenance, design engineering, project management and construction related to routine and emergency restoration tasks.

Responsibilities span grid design, operations, asset management and reliability, with collaboration across Transmission and other units. The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering and may consider PE licensure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a four-year engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Industrial).
  • PE may be considered with a four-year engineering degree and/or licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Performs engineering analyses in substation areas including planning, maintenance, design, project management and construction.
  • Applies engineering principles to solve problems and improve products or services.
  • Evaluates alternatives and interprets electrical codes, procedures, standards, and policies.
  • Provides engineering support to Area Substation Supervisors in diagnostic and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Ensures compliance with industry standards (NERC, SERC) and other regulations.
  • Collaborates with Transmission and other company units to achieve goals.
  • Assists with storm and emergency restoration efforts as needed.

Job Summary/Purpose

Performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, design engineering, project management and construction, and operations activities related to routine, non-routine, and emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Performs a wide variety of detailed engineering analysis in Substation-related areas such as planning, maintenance, design, project management and construction, and operations.
  • Uses engineering/technical principles, best practices, and knowledge of internal and external business issues to solve problems, develop cost-effective, technically sound solutions, and improve products or services.
  • Applies knowledge of engineering principles in evaluating alternatives, making decisions, and interpreting/employing applicable electrical codes, procedures, standards, processes, and policies.
  • Provides engineering and technical support to Area Substation Supervisors in the group’s day to day performance of diagnostic and preventive maintenance tasks
  • Supports activities to comply with applicable industry standards (i.e., NERC, SERC) and other utility regulations, as required.
  • Works with other disciplines within the Transmission organization and other company business units to achieve stated goals
  • Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts as necessary.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution. Degrees in engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution with PE may be considered.

Minimum Experience Required Of The Position
  • Engineer I: 0 - 2 years of applicable engineering experience
  • Engineer II: at least 2 - 4 years of applicable engineering experience
  • Engineer III: at least 4 - 6 years of applicable engineering experience
  • Sr Engineer: at least 6 years of applicable engineering experience

Excellent project management skills. Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.
