Job summary

TYLin is seeking an experienced Construction Engineer in Southern California, joining our Construction Management team as an Office Engineer. You will work on dynamic transportation projects in the Long Beach Area, focusing on quality and safety in construction engineering.

Collaborate with the Resident Engineer, review plans and specs, assist with pay quantities and final estimates, and ensure compliance with Caltrans requirements. A strong team player with reliable transportation is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; an Engineer in Training Certification is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in contract administration or inspection of bridge and roadway construction projects.
  • OSHA Safety Training Certification or willingness to complete it within 3 months of hire.
  • Reliable transportation is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Resident Engineer on daily tasks, ensuring smooth project operations.
  • Enforce construction safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Review and understand contract documents, plans, and specifications.
  • Assist in documenting pay quantities and developing the Final Estimate.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and specifications, and document monthly progress payments.
  • Draft and track Contract Change Orders and ensure accurate payment tracking.
  • Manage material inspections, certifications, and project acceptance documentation.
  • Organize project files according to Caltrans requirements and manage project submittals, RFIs, and correspondence.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and construction closeout documents.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with experience working with contractors and sub-consultants.
  • OSHA Safety Training Certification or willingness to complete it within 3 months of hire.
