Job summary

The State of Louisiana, Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), is seeking a Construction Engineer to support transportation projects through construction delivery, field engineering, documentation, contractor coordination, and compliance with DOTD standards. This position is located in Vernon Parish and reports to the Project Engineer.

No prior licensed engineering experience is required—training is provided with opportunities for career progression through the Engineering job

Qualifications

Current Louisiana professional engineer license.
Applicants licensed in other states may be considered after obtaining Louisiana license.
Licensing verification will be performed by the board.

Responsibilities

Perform construction project delivery and field engineering tasks.
Review plans, specifications, estimates, and project records.
Monitor contractor work for DOTD standards and contract requirements.
Coordinate with contractors, project engineers, inspectors, consultants, and staff.
Review quantities, payments, and project-related materials.
Support construction certification, eConstruction, fabrication, field documentation, or final audits.
Assist with resolving construction-related issues and delivery concerns.
Support emergency or disaster response activities as needed.
