Job summary

UNICO Engineering, Inc. in California seeks a Construction Engineer II with 2–5 years of experience. An Engineer-in-Training certification is required, and a PE license is preferred.

You will support Resident Engineers on transportation projects funded locally, state-wide, and federally, adhering to Caltrans and local agency standards. You will join a team handling roadways, bridges, curb/gutter/sidewalk, utilities, and earthwork, reporting to a Resident Engineer.

Qualifications

• Engineer-in-Training certification required.
• BS in Construction Management, Civil, or Structural Engineering.
• Two years of relevant construction experience or eight years of construction engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and attend meetings with the Contractor, client agencies, and the public.
• Establish and maintain project records.
• Review and respond to RFIs and letters.
• Review and process submittals.
• Document and authorize payments for the project.
• Review the Contractor's work for compliance.
• Review extra work and perform independent cost analysis and time impact analysis.
• Participate in and/or conducting pre, mid, and post-construction reviews.
• Manage and forecast project budgets.
• Review and draft responses to NOPCs and claims.
• Maintain as-built drawings.
• Prepare final project closeout documents.
