Job summary

The Walsh Group in La Porte, IN, is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to lead health, safety, and environmental programs for our Transportation Division. You will develop site‑specific EHS plans, investigate incidents, and coordinate audits and training to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include managing drug‑free workplace policies, coordinating with project managers and subcontractors, and providing safety education to staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering or construction management or equivalent
• CHST certification required or equivalent professional credential
• Minimum 5–7 years of construction EHS experience
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities
• Willingness to travel as required
• Physical ability to stand, sit, walk, and climb stairs or ladders

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement site‑specific EHS plans in collaboration with the Project Manager and leadership.
• Coordinate subcontractor EHS protocols with vendors and owner personnel; manage site EHS programs.
• Conduct quarterly on‑site EHS audits and inspections for compliance with laws and company policies.
• Perform accident investigations and report incidents to Project Management.
• Provide EHS training to personnel and coordinate new hire EHS orientation.
• Administer the corporate SPAT process and manage drug‑free workplace policies.
• Prepare weekly EHS updates for EHS leadership.
